Pumpkin Patch 2013

My mom came to visit last weekend, and she brought my grandma all the way from Colorado to play with the girls and meet Ivy. Alice doesn't remember the first time she met "Grandma Ellie," but she enjoyed visiting with her this time!
I keep saying that we're going to visit the pumpkin patch at the beginning of October instead of closer to Halloween, as we usually do, so we can enjoy our pumpkins during the appropriate season instead of decorating them for Valentine's Day. We decided it would be fun to go while the grandmas were in town, and I managed to finish Alice's costume just in the nick of time. I didn't get a great shot of the feather plumage fascinator before she took it off, so sorry for the dopey look here!

Even though high winds were forecasted, we weren't seeing any action at our house so we decided to give it a try. Apparently, all the wind was up North at the pumpkin patch, and nearly blew us away while coating us in a nice layer of dirt. But it was perfect for a little bird to flap her wings!

And as long as we gave her a tail wind, the little Ivy Bug was content to sit in the dirt and smack pumpkins.

Just the cutest little bug there ever was. And the prettiest little rainbow bird there ever was!

Alice just loves the pumpkin patch. She has the best time picking out pumpkins. If it were up to her, I think she would bring them all home.

She was brave this year and climbed the hay bale pyramid. Or rather, flew to the top.

And then she said "I can see ever-fing from up here!"

The grandmas were busy keeping themselves and Ivy from blowing away... And then we got four generations in a photo together!

this is my favorite. fly, little bird.

we picked out the biggest pumpkins that have ever come with us.
Alice is saying "I want to pick out GOURDS!"
I tried to get her to take some shots standing on the hay bales like she was going to take off over the corn stalks, but she was too nervous to stand up there.
So we tried a sister shot, but Ivy wasn't super keen about it and Alice kept saying "She's going to wiggle me off!"
"She's gonna wiggle me off!"

We took a quick whirl through the sunflower scarecrow maze, looking for a pretty sunflower to take a photo. Alice refused to be held for a picture, she just wanted to ride in the stroller, so we got a shot of Ivy to match one from Alice's first visit to the pumpkin patch.

I don't know when Ivy picked up this pumpkin, but she held it most of the time we were at the pumpkin patch. I'm pretty sure she accidentally carried it off without paying for it, too. Whoops.
And of course she's trying to eat it. We headed off to Habit Burger shortly after this, as is our pumpkin patch tradition!

It was a fun visit, as always. Now we just have to figure out how to carve our giant pumpkins, and how to finish the last tricky bit of my costume so we can all dress up for the rest of the holiday festivities this month!
